Politeness In Forums

Post by HatFetish on Sun Jan 20, 2008 9:26 am

It has come to my attention that some members seem to be posting rude topics which are unhelpful and unrelated to Xeronar.

I suggest that said users refrain from doing this as their posts will be deleted by a mod or the admin and it could result in them being banned from the game and/or forums.
We want Xeronar online forum to be a place that is friendly and welcomes all members.

Thanks for your time.

~ Hat.

In addition to this, I would request that you please follow the ToS and rules below:

* No 1 word posts in an attempt to get your post count up.
* No posts completely in capital letters.
* No flaming other members, let's keep our discussions civil please.
* Use punctuation where appropriate.
* Do not use puncuation inappropriately.

Just in case anyone doesn't understand, here's an example.
A user posts this: ''I am an atheist and therefore do not believe literally in the creation story and do not follow a religion.''

An example of a bad reply would be the following:
''OMG!!!111oneoneone! hahahahaw you NOOB. I rule and you SuKz! j00 goin ta hell biatch''

A good post would be the following:
''I understand your point, however I have to disagree. I believe that christianity has many benfefits, such as bringing people closer together within the community and giving people reason to help their neighbours''.

So, are we clear? Yes? Great.
Thanks for your time and for keeping Xeronar a great place to hang out and chat that welcomes all members.

thank you for clearin' this up, but i would like to point out that people are still posting pointless posts and therefore have a high posting record which is very unfair on everyone else.

I agree. Yes

I think perhaps the mods need to be more vigilant in deleting inappropriate posts,
at least until everyone has got the message that this just isn't fair.

I was atleast trying to do that with my posts, but there is no 'Delete Post' button in my posts, nor anyone others...I don't know what's wrong...

there should be a 'delete post' button now, but only in forums that specifically list you by either your name or by saying the group 'moderators'

if not, the super-mod powers have obviously broken something!

I wondered where that had gone...
It wasn't me, I assure you.

FYI:
I'm noticing glitches with the mod controls too,
What's up with that?

when can we expect this to be fixed, Grimm? Confused

It seems to be consistant for a day or two,
before it fixes itself...and then breaks again.

The main problem is...
The delete button has gone AWOL from posts.
Yes, it's even happening in General Discussion,
where I am a mod.

Hope this helped you out.

Hmm, well Hat, I've been noticing that it just goes away, but I also notice that it is a forum section that I am not a moderator of. I believe if the 'Moderators' list is something like:
Grimm 88, Moderators

Then that wouldn't allow the 'Moderators' to do it because Grimm 88 is a higher rank than us (admin). Grimm, you may want to only have 1 or 2 usergroups like before, admins and mods, instead of adding Super Mods, etc. As far as I know, that seemed to work.

yeah, i was thinking of going back to the old system, however i dont think a certain group takes residence over another inferior one since all the normal moderators can still moderate...

since it is only super mods that have this problem i am probrably going to switch everyone back down to normal mod status...

EDIT: i let you keep your 'super mod' title and color, but should have fixed the problem... also, you can now ban people!

@Grimm:
Mod controls seem to be fixed now. WOOHOO!
Thanks, Grimm. Love

Ben, your status is still 'super moderator'.
Has Grimm changed it back now?
Confused

Please don't swear, there's really no need for it.

Also, sorry to keep on at you but I feel I must mention again
that your posts have absoutely no punctuation in them whatsoever.

Perhaps you could try using some?
Is it really so hard to hit the fullstop at the end of a sentence?

You're right, it's now changed to moderator.
Methinks you've been demoted.

...Perhaps you could take my advice on the punctuation?
It might change your position. Big Grin
